St Chapelle & Pompidou

Another day of walking and sightseeing ...

Sunday, 8th July and a short walk to the Church of St Chapelle. This small church has the reputation as the most beautiful in Paris. Certainly the stained glass windows are magnificent.
Stained glass windows between very thin columns.
The famous Rose Window of St Chapelle.
Plenty of beautiful stone carvings and plenty of people as usual.
After St Chapelle we walked to the Museum d'Orsay and spent a couple of hours there. Photographs not allowed unlike the Louvre (??). On the way back we walked along the Seine.
 Another of the 39 bridges!
 Not too many people here!
Next was the Centre National d'Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou. This was a very controversial building due it its "inside out" construction with all the services, and escalator, on the outside rather than hidden within an attractive exterior. Our opinion, not attractive at all!
The modern art contents inside left us both wondering what all the fuss was about!
A bit of a waste of time. Recommend not bothering. At least we did not have to queue!
Anne recognised this picture as the 10 Elizabeth Taylors by Andy Warhol.
