Masham & East Keswick

A Beerfest at Masham and overnight at East Keswick ...

Saturday, 23rd June the White Bear was running a Beerfest with over 30 beers available. Live music provided as well (see later). Shame that the inclement weather kept the crowds away.
Anne decided to try "a half" of one of the beers on offer.
This is the White Bear in Masham.
And this was the live music ....
Sunday, 24th June and we drove down to East Keswick to see Lynda and Geoff. This photo is basically the centre of East Keswick.
We went for a walk around the town and this was outside a very small house (1 up and 1 down!).

Tony, Jill, and the twins Charlie and Lucy came to visit.

Charlie and Lucy are two bundles of energy!

Chester

Staying with Chris and Christine ...

Thursday, 21st June we arrive at Chris and Christine's and go for a brief walk around the Chester walls and along the River Dee. This is the famous Chester Clock with Anne and Christine enjoying the light rain.
A Chester street complete with light rain!
This is more like it! A delicious dinner with Chris, Christine and Alistair.
A great dinner and plenty of 'after dinner chat'.

Comparing family photographs!
Friday, 22nd June and Chris offering morning tea before we set off for our final leg of 2,000 miles around England and now back to Ellingstring in the Yorkshire Dales.
 Chris having a stretch - I think!
Anne and Jesse the 9 year old Border Collie - now great friends!
Yours truly, Christine and Anne outside the beautiful new extension - yes, it was raining yet again!!
A close up of the same people!

Cambridge

Staying with Emma, David, Rosie & Charlotte ...

Wednesday, 20th June we visited Anglesey Abbey near Cambridge. This Jacobean-style house with gardens and working water mill was painstakingly restored by Lord Fairhaven and then bequeathed to the National Trust when he died.

This was grand stately home was beautifully decorated and furnished. The original Abbey buildings go back 800 years.

The magnificent view out of their back room window!
The pre-arranged lunch at a local pub with plenty of character and good food. Uncle Graham, cousin Christine, Anne and Auntie Joyce.
Auntie Joyce has a great appetite - this was her dessert!
Tuesday, 19th June and a beautiful day walking around Rye.

Uncle Graham, Anne and Auntie Joyce.

A lookout with cannons (and some welcome sun)!

Anne just had to sit on the cannon!
One of many cute streets in Rye.
Another cute pub and a great lunch before we left Uncle Graham and Auntie Joyce to make our way to Huntingdon near Cambridge.

Greys Crt, Henly, Wokingham

Relaxing  in Winnersh with Mary, Mike, Tori and Diak ....

Friday, 15th June arrived at Mary & Mike's and went to the George & Dragon  for dinner. This was a great pub with heaps of atmosphere and really good food!
Saturday, 16th June, A visit to Greys Court stately home. Beautiful gardens but unfortuantely the weather was not conducive to long rambling walks but we did see a Donkey Wheel (Google it!)

We sheltered in the Greenhouse for a photo!

By the Thames River at Henly-on-Thames. This is where the Henly Regatta is held and preparations were well underway.
We had to have beer at the Angel on the Bridge overlooking the Thames. Apparently this is the "in place" during the Regatta. Anne and Mary had a Pimms - the "in drink" for the Regatta!

Mary & Mike's White Cottage. The original cottages were built about 1860.
Sunday, 17th June out with Mike, Tori and Mary shopping in Wokingham and a necessary coffee break! Mike's shorts were getting into holiday mode, ready for their iminent trip to Turkey!

Some welcome sunshine brought all the cameras out. This shot courtesy of Mary!
This happened to be Father's Day in the UK so this was an appropriate photo!
Anne and Mary enjoying the sunshine and some warmth!
 To Alison!
Then we started an hilarious photo shoot in the garden. These are some of the better photos! (We will keep the funny ones for internal consumption!)
