Paris - Getting Bearings

Our four nights in Paris start here ...

Thursday, 5th July we fly from Leeds Bradford airport at 10.30am to Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris. The flight took about 1 hour 15 minutes. A car from the hotel picks us up from the airport and brings us here to Rue de Saint Louis en I'IIe. Our 20 room hotel was about 80 yards down on the right hand side.
About 8 minutes walk and we were standing in front of Notre Dame.
Apparently Paris has 26 million visitors a year and we think that 20 million are there in July! It was "wall to wall" people in the most famous areas.
The queue to get into Notre Dame was up to 150 yards at times.
One of the 39 bridges across the Seine. Note the threatening sky!
The Shakespeare shop is just crammed with old books on two jam packed floors and you are encouraged to sit and read for as long as you like!
The Saint Michel fountain.
The Palais Du Luxemburg and the Luxemburg Gardens.
We decided to have a coffee in this cafe in the Luxemburg Gardens.
Whilst having coffee a storm came in and we had difficulty deciding when to "make a dash for it" with out trusty macs.
On the way back to the hotel, this was taken in the gardens at the rear of the Notre Dame.
The fence on this bridge is covered with padlocks put there by couples pledging their undying love.

A glimmer of sun got through the clouds.

This was the view across the street from our hotel room. We could see what the people over the way were having for dinner!
