Niagara on the Lake & Toronto

Looking around Niagara on the Lake and then Toronto ....
Niagara on the Lake is about half an hour from Niagara Falls. Here on the shore of Lake Ontario it looks absolutely massive
The houses in Niagara are beautiful and set into perfectly manicured grounds. It is so peaceful you just want to sit and meditate!
Anne by our trusty Honda Accord as we set off for the centre of Niagara on the Lake
Horse drawn carriages outside the Prince of Wales Hotel
The picture perfect Prince of Wales Hotel
The centre of Niagara on the Lake
Delightful walking down any street!
Have you ever seen a median strip like this one?
Anne could not resist trying out the swings in the park!
The whole of the Prince of Wales Hotel
What a contrast - the centre of Toronto! We drove straight into the very centre of Toronto and parked in the Eaton Centre so that we could get a bight of lunch. We then walked around for about an hour and a half before heading for Terri's relative
This square in the centre was a bit like Times Square with all its billboards
Walking around getting a feel for the place!
Fancy billboards to say the least!
Fountains in the square
Further around the same square
After we had had enough we picked up the car and had an horrendous time getting out of Toronto heading for Mississauga since Tom Tom was unaware of all the road closures due to construction activity in the City centre. If anyone thought the traffic in Sydney was bad then they should try Toronto - and they all drive on the wrong side of the road as well!
The next day our host Elizabeth and Elwin took us to Casa Loma and this is the Great Hall. This was the former estate of Sir Henry Mill Pellatt, a prominent Toronto financier, industrialist and military man. His life long dream was to create a medieval castle on the brow of the hill overlooking Toronto. This 100 room castle was begun in 1911 and took 300 men nearly 3 years to complete at a cost of $3.5M at that time. Sir Henry and his wife enjoyed the castle for less than 10 years before financial misfortune forced him to abandon his castle home
The gardens are beautiful
Guess who is in the gardens?

  1. Much joy in following your trip. So different to here. Will you drive on the wrong side of the road again???
