Niagara Arrival and Day 1

Entering Canada, Sheraton Hotel and exploring Niagara Falls ....
Entering Canada through Immigration & Customs
View of the Falls on our arrival and checking into our room on the 19th floor of the Sheraton on the Falls

Anne was pleased with the view!
The view the other way, looking over the Rainbow Bridge. The queues on this border crossing bridge were horrendous most of the time
The view of our hotel when we walked down to the Maid of the Mist on our one full day in Niagara
It was quite chilly at the start of the day but warmed up nicely later. The American Falls in the background
Light jackets were essential. The Horseshoe Falls in the background
On board the Maid of the Mist with everyone in blue plastic ponchos for the mist

Terri demonstrating this useful bit of wardrobe

Close to the American Falls
Looking back towards our hotel
Entering the Horseshoe Falls. This was the last photo before cameras went away under the ponchos as the mist/rain was quite heavy. The Falls are 170 feet straight down
On the way out from the Horseshoe Falls as another boat was heading in
Anne having problems! The strong breeze meant that wardrobe malfunctions were quite common where the blue ponchos were concerned!
Anne at the White Water Walk about 4 Km down from the Falls
Spectacular water turbulence and ferocious speed. The water is quite green from 60 tons of minerals that are carried past every minute!
The gorge is spectacular. The far side is the United States
The Floral Clock
This is the view of the Horseshoe Falls from the top at Table Rock
Every few feet there was another photo opportunity. Thousands of photos were being taken by hundreds of people
Maid of the Mist heading into the Horseshoe Falls
Classic photo of Horseshoe Falls complete with the Maid of the Mist
The parks along the various lookouts were beautiful in every direction
The American Falls looked spectacular as we walked back to the hotel
The beautiful parks again with our hotel in the distance
Right next to the Sheraton on the Falls was Clifton Hill - the "tackiest" area of Niagara!
Had to finish with this beautiful photo taken from our room window when we returned to the hotel
