Heartbeat then Fish & Chips at Whitby ....
Monday, 4th June outside Chris & Alan's and standing in front of our rental car (Vauxhall Insignia 2L Diesel Manual).
Morning tea in the Adensfield Arms from the TV series "Heartbeat" which was filmed here in Goathland for 18 years!
Scripps Garage also from the TV series "Heartbeat" with Terri and Anne standing in front of a Ford Anglia police car used in the series.
Whitby on a very busy Bank Holiday Monday - there wasn't a Pay & Display parking place to be had anywhere so we parked in shopping centre car park - max 2 hours!
The Magpie Cafe is probably the most famous "fish & chippy" in Whitby. The queue on the left along the pavement was for a table inside the cafe. We decided to have takeaway fish and chips for which the queue was much shorter!
Terri and Anne in the takeaway fish and chip queue which still took about 20 minutes. A couple in front of us in the queue were from the Gold Coast, Australia.
Terri and Anne perched on a mooring post eating fish and chips. The masts you can see are from a replica of the Endeavour that was giving joy rides to about 60 paying passengers at a time. You can see this ship coming back into the harbour in the 4th photo below. Note the blue sky - still cold but the sun had some warmth!
It was more or less wall to wall people in Whitby whilst we were there.
Lots of tourists staying in or visiting Whitby for the Queen's Jubilee long weekend.
Terri taking advantage of some excellent photo opportunities up on the cliff over looking Whitby. Just behind Terri is the Captain Cook statue.
Whitby harbour. Anne huddled against the cold wind is sitting in the chair in the foreground!
Terri ad Anne with Whitby in the background.
Peter and Anne at he same location as the photo above.
Masham's Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations started at 5:30pm until about 11:00pm. (Masham is about 15 mins from Ellingstring and Chris & Alan's nearest shops). Celebrations consisted mainly of a do-it-youself BBQ and bring whatever you want to drink. Plenty of wine being drunk!
More of Masham's Jubilee celebrations. They had a live band although we had left before the band returned after a break.
We had seen enough and it was getting cold (about 9.00pm) so we headed home via the scenic route.
sun at last
